How to secure a new nickname on Paltalk Live Audio Chat Room.

8/13/03 - VIPs are now required to use their first and last name when attending a PalTalk Session. If you have already secured a PalTalk name other than your first and last name, you need to secure another name which will be used for DHS Club sessions. While you may see pop ups during login, you will not see them in the room. Follow the directions below to secure a new nickname on PalTalk. These directions assume you have the PalTalk program installed. If you do not have it installed, go to: http://www.paltalk.com to install the PalTalk program and to set up your account.

 

To secure a new PalTalk user name open the PalTalk program and from the "Nickname" dropdown box select "<New User>".

From the "How Do I..." drop down box select "Register a New User".

Click on "Sign on " button.

 

Once signed on you will come to this registration page. Select a NickName which reflects your first and last name. Complete the form and you're all set to go! See next box

 

* PalTalk does not allow a nickname to be registered with the word "Pal" in it. If your first or last name has the letters 'pal' in it (such as in the name "Palo") you will need to use the numeral 1 (one) in place of the letter "L". ("Palo" would be "Pa1o").
 

Once you have registered your new nickname, go to the sign on screen again and drop down the box to where it says "<New User>" and type your new nickname over the <New User>. (see example to the left). Next type in your password and from the "How Do I .." drop down box select "logon to an existing account".

Click on "sign on" and you're on your way! :)

To locate the DHS Club room go to "Groups" then "business and finance" and then "DHS Club www.dhs-club.com" .

IF YOUR MICROPHONE and/or SPEAKERS DO NOT WORK
If your microphone or speakers do not work, try adjusting the volume control (see red arrow) by sliding the slider bar all the way to the right. If this does not work, go to the next step below.
AUDIO TEST:
If after adjusting your microphone and speaker slider bar (above)your microphone or speakers still do not work, you must leave the room and go to the first page you saw when you logged into PalTalk (shown to the left).. Click on "help" then on "audio test" and follow the onscreen directions to test your microphone and speakers.
TO RAISE YOUR HAND TO ASK QUESTION
In order to maintain control in the room and answer questions in order, we ask that you raise your hand to ask a question. Click on the "req talk" button and this will raise your hand. Once your hand is raised, listen for your name to be called. Once called, you may ask your question via the microphone or by text.
CAMERAS:
If you mistakenly put on your camera, click on the "Stop Publish" button to turn the camera off. Cameras are not allowed in the DHS Club Paltalk room.
